Morning Market Picks for July 9, 2009

by Erich Senft on July 19, 2009

CURRENCIES

September Australian Dollar ADU9
Nailed it except for the opening gap! Ain’t that frustrating? We’re back un hold now until the next setup. FLAT for Thursday.

September Canadian Dollar CDU9
We sold the CD on Wednesday but it’s off to a slow start. Hopefully we’ll see momentum pick up to the downside for Thursday.

CONTINUATION of Short September Canadian Dollar at 8547 (July 8)
Exit Stop: 8733 (stop)(GTC)
Approximate Risk: $1860 per contract
Profit Target: 8287 (limit)(GTC)
Approximate Profit: $2600 per contract
Degree of Risk: Moderate to HIGH

GRAINS

September mini- Corn @YCU9
Watch List – We have support forming but need at least one more day to confirm it. Once support is in place we’ll consider a sell.

September Soybean Meal SMU
Watch List – looking for support to come in Wednesday. If we get it there might be another chance to sell before the weekend.

MEATS

August Feeder Cattle FCQ9
Watch List – This looks a lot like a pullback phase. Waiting for support to come in and then a possible buy.

August Live Cattle LCQ9
Watch List – Ditto.

August Lean Hogs LHQ9
I’m hoping Hogs aren’t going to reach too far back!

CONTINUATION of Long August Lean Hogs at 6182 (July 6)
Exit Stop: 5962 (stop)(GTC)
Approximate Risk: $880 per contract
Profit Target: 6492 (limit)(GTC)
Approximate Profit: $1240 per contract
Degree of Risk: Moderate to HIGH

METALS

September Copper HGU9
Watch List – Ditto for Copper.

August Gold GCZQ9
Just 1 tick shy of our profit target! Can you believe it? Surely it will get hit in the night session. Other than that it was a perfect day!

Don’t you just love support and resistance trading?

CONTINUATION of Short August Gold at 917.5 (July 8)
Exit Stop; 932.5 (stop)(GTC)
Approximate Risk: $1500 per contract
Profit Target: 904.5 (limit)(GTC)
Approximate Profit: $1300 per contract
Degree of Risk: Moderate

SOFTS

October Sugar SBV9
Watch List – Still on the watch list but I might have a change of heart about buying. The downtrend might be more substantial than I first thought. We’ll see what Thursday brings.
