Thx Techie, FYI: I'm not sure what XP's default is but when I tried to do as suggested, Hibernate was not an option. I checked Power Option in the Control panel and found Hibernation unchecked. After checking, all worked as you described... Thx again, it reduced shutdown/startup by at least 500%.
