Rebecca, once you have Jack up and running, you can turn back on the firewall and it'll work just fine. It has to do with the applets opening at start it, once you're in it works flawlessly with the full array of protective devices running. I run the same OS as you do, so it should translate the same.
With the currencies, Stock Indexes, Metals and eurodollar using a prefix of "r" gets you the RTH session only ... so RCDH5 would show only the RTH session for March CD. If you enter CDH5 you will get prices from all sessions. In the grains you use a prefix of "n" in the opposite way. To see RTH session in any grain you enter for instance CH5 to see RTH in March Corn. To see all sessions in Corn you would enter NCH5. In the Bonds you enter USDH5 to see the RTH session and to see all sessions you use USH5 or you can use the electronic symbol as well which is ZB.
If you click on 'help" there is a complete tutorial on symbology. It is the same system used by FutureSource.
Hope this helps Andrea.
