It's always nice to hear from both of you, and I enjoy your insights. I have no "firestorm of controversy" - in fact, I agree with everything that you and Tom and others have said about trading the pits. When it comes to having one's own electronic platform, however, please don't overlook the plight of traders who have to trade positions through a broker. I'm thinking primarily of new traders, who still need the helping hand of a broker while they are learning the ropes. Placing one's own orders can be very intimidating while still in the process of learning how to trade, and having the "watchdog" suggestions of a competent broker can help to avoid costly mistakes.
I realize that most brokerage sources offer different levels of trading services, from broker-assisted to completely self-directed. This helps with the "migration" process, if you will, in accomodating the personal circumstances and comfort level of an individual trader. So totally electronic self-directed trading may not be for EVERYONE, but it's definitely a target to shoot for at some point in a trading career.
Appreciate your enthusiasm,
Good $$$$ to you,
Joe
