Happy trading for you and don't be afraid of that technical stuff, there are lots of people that can and will help you to set it up. One big advantage that I find with modern techniques is that you can try new parameters and find the one setting that suits you best. And you can trade the market in real time simulation until you are satisfied with the results. That is a big B I G difference to paper trading.
