Cotton prices stayed stable at the beginning of this last fortnight, as a clear sign they would not decline in the coming period. Tight supply will support market prices until larger arrivals from the new crop will reach markets in China and India. China has begun temporary purchase and storage of cotton for the new season. A notice to the effect has been issued by the Economic Planning Division under the Ministry of Finance and the Economic and Trade Division under the National Development and Reform Commission.
