I use my software for the same reasons you do - because they're cheap.
I use Gecko for the position trades because it allows me to easily mark up the charts which is important for the weekend ezine. And surprisingly, good end of day software is hard to find. Many of the intraday charts (ie. Ninja) will not do end of day (that's not entirely true, you can set you minute time frame to 1440 which will give you a daily chart, but you won't get weekly or monthly).
I use Ninja for day trading because the broker comp's it (a lot of brokers will have some sort of free software for you to use if you have an account with them). Ninja has a little bit of a learning curve (not too steep) and I have to admit it is very powerful software with many more features than I ever use - but they're fun to play with all the same.
Before Ninja I used Sierra Charts which cost a mere $25/month for a live data feed. Again, very powerful software with many more features than I would ever use and at a price that's really tough to beat.
I would say that so long as you're getting your charts for free, and they're accurate, I would keep them - unless you really hate them. More and more brokers are including charting software as a way to entice you to open an account with them. Talk to your broker about options. There might be something he hasn't mentioned to you yet.
