An old saying ....still true?

I don't know about you, but pork bellies are a bit too volatile for me to trade. But my Dad was a trader and traded Pork Bellies pretty often and successfully. He had an interesting saying "never short Pork Bellies when the tomatoes are ripe" (demand for bacon for BLT sandwiches). Erich pointed out this is probably true for lean hogs too, but because of the holiday demand for hams just around the corner. Some of the older traders really had some interesting sayings....and what's more amazing they usually were pretty accurate. Even without RSI, moving averages, momentum, etc. I feel more comfortable trading with some of the tools; at least with support and resistance.
