Years back we used border collies to herd our goats and sheep. Besides being beautiful, they are amazingly intelligent. We never had to train them at all. They learned all the commands as pups by just being around their mother when she worked. Never saw anything like it!

One thing is important though. They are extremely sensitive. Had a friend who hollared at his BC(didn't even give it a tiny smack) and it ran away into the fields to sulk. It was so hurt that it starved itself to death. They must be guided gently!
