I don't know why some dogs like to lick faces. Different breeds have different innate characteristics, some of which can be difficult to modify. However, much of a dog's behavior will depend on its treatment, including training, by its owner. And, actually, I think most dogs are quite responsive to training from a caring owner. :-)
